Having two skit characters deliver your wedding rings might seem a bit out of the ordinary, but it was only a mild shock to the T bar M Day Camp Director, Phil Rich. This was proof that we definitely live by “Don’t Waste Fun”, both in and out of the T bar M gates.

Phil first came to T bar M as he was approaching the end of his college education at Texas A&M University (Whoop!). Attending a mission trip to Panama through T bar M mission adventures was Phil’s first look at T bar M. Directly after graduating from college, Phil worked the summer at Sports Camp, only then to start on our discipleship program, the Timothy Team. It was here that his desire for camping ministry grew into a calling and passion. Summer 2005 was Phil’s first exposure with Day Camp, serving as a member of the leadership team.
After two summers as a member of the leadership team, Phil assumed the position of Day Camp Director in November of 2006 and has been here ever since! Phil couldn’t imagine himself in any other position. It is in this role that many of his passions meet: presenting Jesus Christ, getting to be high energy and animated with young kids, and being in a position of leadership and discipleship to high school and college age staff.
And who says camp relationships can’t work? Phil met his wife, Jean Marie, at T bar M in the summer of 2004. After a shared mission trip, as well as completing the Timothy Team program the year after Phil, the two tied the knot in December of 2006. After a couple years of marriage the two grew into three with the birth of their first son, Jackson, in September of 2009. What a blessing and a joy of a child!
It has been an amazing adventure and Phil can’t help but hold on for the journey God is laying before him. Phil surely feels blessed as he serves and grows through T bar M camps. You might even say he’s F.U.A.G.N.E.M.!!!
